45–75 minutes before
Pre-workout.
Drizzle pure maple over toast or oatmeal, or stir it into a yogurt parfait. It's a quick hit of natural carbs to top up your energy stores before you start moving.
Tip: A little goes a long way. 1 tbsp has about 13 g of carbs.
For workouts over 30 minutes
During workout.
During long lifts your body starts burning through its stored fuel. That's when athletes reach for energy gels, which are often packed with additives, thickeners and tons of ingredients you can't pronounce.
Mapely does the same job with one ingredient.
Tip: Pair it with an electrolyte drink if you are sweating heavily or exercising in the heat.
Refuel and Recover
After workout.
Blend mapley into a smoothie with protein and fruit. That's carbs to replenish your energy and protein for your muscles, the classic post-workout combo.
The science:
One-ingredient energy
Power of the Maple.
Pure maple syrup is primarily sucrose, which your body breaks down into glucose and fructose. Because these sugars use different pathways for absorption, the combination can be easier to digest and may cause less stomach discomfort than glucose alone.
That same glucose + fructose pairing is used in many high-performance sports fuels but those often come with a long list of added ingredients like thickeners, preservatives, artificial flavours and colours.
One tablespoon of pure maple syrup delivers ~13 g of carbohydrates, plus naturally occurring manganese, riboflavin and 60+ polyphenolic compounds, including quebecol.
Simple fuel. Easy on the stomach. Serious performance.
